Welcome
to Al Salam Camp on Luxor's historic West Bank
In the old
days drovers of camel caravans would call at camps like Al Salam to relax
and recover after weeks in the desert. Now our guests are independent
travellers from all over the world who come to enjoy traditional hospitality
in our lush green oasis just a short taxi (or camel if you prefer) ride
from the Valley of the Kings and other world-famous monuments. Visit us
for the warmest welcome on the West Bank and a unique experience:
- Idyllic
location on the banks of the river Nile far away from the daily hustle
(but only minutes from the ferry)
- Beautiful
surroundings in a rural landscape of small villages and family farms
- Food and
music in Bedouin style near the camp fire under the shining starry sky
- Accommodation
in eight spotlessly clean huts arranged round a courtyard
- Eco-friendly
hot baths and showers
- Sightseeing,
transport and activities including hot-air
ballooning, hiking, fishing and riding
 |
The
courtyard is the heart of Al Salam. Here you can meet guests and local
people, eat, drink, read (we have a small but growing library) or
just relax. |

|
| This
is where we celebrate parties with our guests in a traditional way.
We serve breakfast (English style) on request starting 5 a.m., Egyptian
lunches such as moussaka, chicken curry or beef tagin, and dinner
round the camp fire or as a candlelit meal in the Bedouin style. All
dishes are served with the day's fresh vegetables, and owner Ahmed
cooks everything himself. Beer and wine is available except during
the holy month of Ramadan. |
